Greensboro Swarm 106, Canton Charge 99

Marcus Thornton’s game-high 28 points were not enough to lead the Canton Charge to a victory Saturday at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

The Swarm (10-21) took a six-point lead into the halftime locker room by outscoring Canton 34-27 in the second quarter. They doubled their lead in the third quarter before the Charge (12-19) got hot in the fourth. Canton scored 30 points in the fourth to the Swarm’s 23. Greensboro led by as many as 19 points.

Roscoe Smith scored 26 points to lead Greensboro. Marcus Paige scored 19 points off the Greensboro bench. Terry Henderson added 16 points and Cat Barber 15 for the Swarm.

Three other Canton starters scored in double digits. John Holland and JaCorey Williams each had 14 points, while Caleb Swanigan added 10 points. Swanigan also had a team-best 11 rebounds.

Canton will host Fort Wayne on Tuesday.
