Fightin Phils 9, RubberDucks 7

The Reading Fightin Phils figured out RubberDucks pitching early and often en route to a series-clinching home win Wednesday.

Ducks starter Sean Brady lasted just three innings after giving up five runs on 10 hits and walking two.

Jordan Milbrath came on in relief and didn’t fair much better, going 2⅔ innings and allowing four runs on four hits and taking the loss.

Shortstop Willi Castro was the only Ducks hitter to collect more than one hit. He singled twice and scored both times after driving in two runs.

Second baseman Mark Mathias continued a recent tear at the plate and extended his hitting streak to eight games with a second-inning home run, his first of the year.

The Ducks stranded six runners on base and couldn’t get the timely hit to rally.

The Ducks (9-10) are now three games behind the Richmond Flying Squirrels in the West Division.
