Richmond Flying Squirrels right-hander Tyler Beede combined with two relievers Wednesday to shut out the visiting RubberDucks in an Eastern League game. Beede (5-4) gave up two hits and struck out nine in 7? innings.

Beede, the San Francisco Giants’ top-ranked pitching prospect, retired the first 17 batters he faced. Ducks second baseman Ivan Castillo broke up the perfect game with a two-out single in the sixth inning. Jordan Smith had the Ducks’ (44-26) only other hit, a double to lead off the eighth.

It was the Ducks’ second consecutive loss and fifth shutout loss this season.

Rob Kaminsky (2-5) went seven innings for the Ducks, giving up two runs in the first. He struck out seven.
