Senior Jessacca Gironda (Archbishop Hoban) scored in the 51st minute off an assist from junior Stephanie Haugh to give the Kent State women’s soccer team a 1-0 win over Cleveland State on Friday at Zoeller Field.



The Golden Flashes (2-1-0) had a 21-6 advantage in shots and a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Senn had two saves to record her ninth career shutout and Gironda’s game-winner was her 18th career goal. The Flashes will host Valparaiso at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
