Senators 9, Aeros 1

Key situation: A rough night for Aeros starting pitcher Robert Whitenack dug a hole too deep for the offense. In just four innings of work, the right-hander gave up seven runs on eight walks, two wild pitches and a three-run home run. Of the 84 pitches he threw, only 37 were strikes.

Quick hits: Aeros center fielder Tyler Holt fouled a ball off his right knee in the fourth inning and was taken out of the game. … Harrisburg’s originally scheduled pitcher, right-hander Nate Karns (4-2, 4.60 ERA), was called up and made the start for parent club Washington against Baltimore.

Next game: Aeros right-hander Will Roberts (3-2, 4.08 ERA) and the Senators’ Rob Gilliam (1-0, 1.80 ERA) are the scheduled pitchers at 7:05 tonight at Canal Park.
