The Chippewa girls basketball team is entering the district bracket this week with an undefeated record.

Chippewa will take its 23-0 record into a Division III district semifinal game at 6 p.m. Wednesday against Northwestern at Wooster High School. Orrville and Loudonville will meet in the other district semifinal at approximately 7:45 p.m.

The Chipps won a sectional title at home on Saturday with a 56-17 victory over Manchester (9-15).

Samantha Storad scored 18 points and Celina Koncz scored 16 points for the Chipps.

Buchtel vs. Norton

Buchtel and Norton will meet in a Division II girls basketball district semifinal at approximately 7:45 p.m. Monday at Lake High School.

Host Buchtel (15-8) won 50-36 over Northwest (12-12) on Thursday in a sectional final with Javaan Rogers and Imani Jackson scoring 13 points and 12 points, respectively.

Norton (17-6) also won on Thursday, 57-42 over visiting Norwayne (10-14) in a sectional final. Kelsey Hosey led the Panthers with 16 points and Bryana Housley scored 14 points.

The other semifinal pits Marlington against Tallmadge at 6 p.m.

Nordonia update

The Nordonia girls traveled to Cleveland Heights on Thursday and left with a 58-42 win in a Division I sectional final.

Maddie Cluse scored 26 points and Soliel Barnes scored 24 points in the victory for Nordonia, which will meet Solon in a district semifinal at approximately 7:45 p.m. Monday at Euclid. The 6 p.m. game at Euclid features Stow versus Cleveland John Hay.

Game-winning shot

Wooster is in a Division I girls district bracket after Stephanie Smith grabbed a rebound and made a layup just before time expired to beat host Archbishop Hoban 65-64 on Thursday in a sectional final.

Macyn Siegenthaler (25 points), Ny’Eemah Brown (14 points) and Smith (10 points) combined to lead Wooster (19-5) past Hoban (16-8). The Generals’ reward is a matchup with Kierstan Bell and Canton McKinley (22-1) at 6 p.m. Monday at Medina High School. The other district semifinal pits Wadsworth against Brunswick at 7:45 p.m.

Elsewhere in Division I, there will be interesting district semifinals at the Canton Memorial Field House with Taylor Mikesell and Jackson taking on North Canton Hoover at 6 p.m. and GlenOak meeting Massillon at 7:45 p.m.
