Archbishop Hoban defeated Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph 85-64 on Sunday in the Dunk 4 Diabetes Shootout at John Carroll University.

Senior Garrett Houser scored 24 points to lead Hoban (11-2), which made 12 shots from beyond the 3-point arc against VA-SJ (8-6).

“This was a huge bounce-back game for us because we had lost to Walsh on Friday,” Hoban coach T.K. Griffith said. “We had 22 assists to eight turnovers today, which is awesome because we were turning the ball over too much in our recent games. We got out in tempo and played very well.”

Hoban finished with four players in double figures — Houser (24 points), junior Jake Snyder (17 points), junior Quan Easterling (12 points) and sophomore Dom Moegerle (11 points). Senior Cullen Gurley and junior Matt Salopek both scored nine points.

Moergerle played his second game at Hoban after transferring from St. Vincent-St. Mary in the summer.

The Dunk 4 Diabetes Shootout featured seven games on Sunday. Revere lost 58-47 to Cleveland Benedictine. The Bengals (10-4) were led by Chris Jefferson (15 points), Andy Barba (14 points) and Jashun Cobb (14 points). Pete Nance scored 16 points for the Minutemen (8-5).
