Hudson 8, Solon 0

Hudson won the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division, improving to 8-0 in league play. Ian Swan did not give up a hit until the sixth innning. He struck out five and gave up just two Solon hits to improve to 3-1 on the year. Joe Charpentier led the Hudson (14-2 overall) offense with a double and four RBI. Mac Schoenman added two hits for the Explorers.

Wadsworth 6, Nordonia 4

The Grizzlies beat the Knights on back-to-back days to remain unbeaten at 15-0 and 10-0 in the Suburban League at Nordonia. Tuesday, Wadsworth won at home 3-2 on a complete game by Nick Bebout. Wednesday it was Chris Byers, Aaron George and Cameron Deemer’s turn to eek out a win. The three scattered 11 hits, including two doubles by David Murray. George earned the win, and Deemer got the save.

Nordonia (11-9, 5-4) had a 3-0 lead, when in the the top of the fourth, Wadsworth tied the game. The Knights took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the inning, only to see it erased on a three-run seventh by the visitors.

Wadsworth’s offense was led by Jared Houser’s two doubles and Kyle Pennington’s double and RBI.

Aurora 2, Brecksville 1

A complete game by Carter Semancik allowed theGreenmen (11-3) to beat host Brecksville. Semancik allowed three hits and improved to 4-0. The win was in question until the seventh, when Devin Bradley and Michael Durkin drove in runs to put Aurora up 2-1. Semancik closed out the game, working a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning for the non-league victory.

St. Thomas Aquinas 6,?Canton McKinley 5

Danny DiGiambattista helped his relief pitching by hitting two singles. He earned the victory when the Knights scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. DiGiambattista improved his pitching record to 5-1.

St. Vincent-St. Mary 5,?Youngstown Mooney 3

The Irish came back from Tuesday’s home loss to the Cardinals to post a win over Mooney in Struthers. Pitchers Brandon Bischof and Brian Horning combined for the Irish (10-10) win. Jason Large hit two singles for STVM.

Softball

Ellet 15, Kenmore 1

Autumn Smith had 11 strikeouts as Ellet used the run rule to defeat Kenmore in a City Series matchup. Ellet improved to 12-8 overall and 9-0 in the league.

Garfield 14, North 12

Freshman Camryn Woodley, usually the Rams’ catcher, threw a no-hitter Tuesday night and came back Wednesday to get the City Series win and even her record to 2-2. The right-hander went 3-for-3 with two triples and seven RBI. Both triples came when the bases were loaded.

Nordonia 2, Revere 0

Hannah Stroe struck out nine in a Suburban League game against visiting Revere. Stroe hit a double at the plate and improved to 12-4. The Knights are now 14-5 overall and 8-1 in the league.

Copley 8, Cloverleaf 5 (8)

The Indians pounded out 13 hits in an extra-inning Suburban League win, including multi-hit performances by Sami Smalley, Bella Ison, Baylee Brown and Kirstin Roddy. Catcher Katie Cox hit a solo home run for visiting Copley (6-9, 3-7)in the fifth.

Roddy earned the pitching win, going the complete game and giving up five unearned runs on seven hits. She struck out two and walked two to improve to 4-5 on the season.

Jurni Harmon led Cloverleaf (8-13, 1-9) with a single and a double.

Manchester 12, Triway 3

Tatum Christy hit two singles and home run, Stewart hit two double and two singles and Emily Kusmits drove in five runs with a homer and a triple, as Mancheter went on the road to post a Principals’ Athletic Conference win. The Panthers (10-7, 7-0) outhit Triway 17-4.

Windham 10, Maplewood 0

Brittany Knight pitched a mercy-rule, five-inning perfect game. Lexi Knight hit three singles for the Bombers (10-2 overall), and Samantha Dean hit two singles and drove in one run.

Crestwood 7, ?Lake Center Christian 0

Christina Masiello hit two doubles, and teammates Holly Hoffman and Sierra Gregel each added two singles, to lead Crestwood (8-9) to a non-league road win. Masiello drove in five of the Red Devils’ seven runs.

St. Vincent-St. Mary 9,?Clev. St. Joseph Academy 4

Ariel Linberger hit her ninth home run of the season and drove in three runs as the Fighting Irish (11-4) outhit host St. Joseph Academy (10-9) 17-12.

Garrettsvile 13, Firestone 3

A double-marathon by the G-Men let Garrettsville cruise to a non-league win at Firestone. Taylor Brown, Madison Geddes each hit two doubles, while Haley Damko, Lauren Jones and Ashley Kaiser each hit one.
