Senior Elijah Bell scored 22 points, and the host Griffins outscored the Cardinals 22-16 in the third quarter to break a halftime tie for a City Series win Tuesday.
The win sets up a battle of one-loss City Series teams on Friday, as Buchtel visits Firestone in a pivotal conference game.
Bell scored six points and senior Tyler Jones scored eight points for the Griffins (11-3, 8-1) in the deciding third quarter.
Jones finished with 15 points and junior Oshay Vinson led the Cardinals (7-8, 6-4) with 25 points.
Firestone 78, Ellet 48
Senior Jerome Lane scored 22 points to lead the visiting Falcons (10-7, 9-1) to a City Series win over the Orangemen (3-12, 1-8).
Senior Kevin Gladney added 16 points and the Falcons scored 32 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Junior Jake Williams led the Orangemen with 13 points.
East 69, Garfield 57
Sophomore Derek Lewis scored a game-high 22 points and the visiting Dragons (9-5, 7-2) used a 20-point second quarter to pull away from the Golden Rams (0-14, 0-10) for a City Series win.
The Dragons led 16-13 after the first quarter and outscored the Golden Rams 20-7 in the second quarter to put the game away early.
Senior Demetrius Ray scored 19 points and senior Brandon Townsend added 16 points for the Dragons. Sophomore Noland Hamilton led the Golden Rams with 20 points.
CVCA 63, Fairless 34
Senior Bob Peters scored 20 points and the host Royals (14-2, 9-1) dominated from start to finish in a PAC-7 win.
Senior Alex Punka added 10 points for the Royals.
