Hudson 2, Chagrin Falls 1

At the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Kevin Zulio and Ian Swan combined on a 3-hitter for a win over Chagrin Falls. Zulio struck out 10 in five innings for the win. Swan came on in the sixth to earn a save. Dan Joseph led the offense with three of Hudsonís six hits. The senior also stole two bases and scored Hudsonís only runs.

Canton Central Catholic 1, Copley 0

Sophomore Jake Vance struck out six and threw a complete-game one-hitter, as the Crusaders opened the season with a shutout win on the road.

Walsh Jesuit 4,?Jackson 2

Walsh Jesuit opened the season with an extra-inning victory over the Polar Bears. With the game tied 2-2 in the eighth inning, Riley Minorik hit an infield single to score Ty Shoaff Jr. from second base to give the Warriors a one-run lead. Shoaff also pitched two shutout innings of relief to earn the win.

Softball

Manchester 7, Raceland-Worthington (Ky.) 5

Freshman Brooke Horning hit two singles, a double and batted in three runs to lead the Panthers to a season-opening win at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Horning also pitched a complete game. Manchester sophomore Emily Kusmits had two hits and one RBI.

Canton Central Catholic 8, Lake 4

Caitlin Gambone drove in four runs on three singles and a double to lead the Crusaders (1-0) to a win at Lake (0-1). Macey Harder had three singles and a double for the Blue Streaks.
