Perry Division I sectional

The host Panthers took the team sectional title and advanced 11 wrestlers to district competition.

Individual title winners for Perry were Jake Williams (113 pounds), Darese Sparkman (138), Dominic Vinas (145), David Carr (152), Emil Soehnlen (170), Adam Luster (220) and Max Millin (285).

St. Vincent-St. Mary Division II sectional

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, Woodridge and St. Vincent-St. Mary each advanced nine individuals to districts, as the three schools finished 1-2-3 in a Division II sectional.

West Geauga District

North Canton Hoover junior Maddie Berrey clinched the West Geauga Division I district all-around title Saturday with a career-high point total of 37.475. Berrey edged out Brecksville’s Emily Huffman (37.375), who also advanced to the state meet next weekend at Hilliard Bradley High School.

Berrey took the top spot as district champion on the beam and was second on the vault.

She became the first Hoover gymnast to advance to state on all four apparatuses and the all-around.

Brecksville’s Kaitlyn Dembie won the floor exercise and the vault, and Huffman took the parallel bars district title.

Girls basketball

Mogadore 56, East Canton 47

Behind Paige Halli­will’s double-double of 26 points and 16 rebounds, Mogadore moved on in one half of the Norwayne Division IV sectional bracket. The Wildcats (14-9) will play No. 1 seed Dalton in a district semifinal Wednesday at Norwayne High School.

Erika Johnson added 19 points for Mogadore. Savannah Yacklin had 23 points for East Canton.

Dalton 77, Lake Cent. Christian 42

Top-seeded Dalton advanced from the Norwayne Division IV sectional behind sophomore Makenna Geiser’s 40 points.
