Bedford Div. II Regional

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy advanced its girls and boys 3,200 relay units to the state meet with first-place finishes Thursday.

The Royals boys won the 3,200 relay in 7:59.87 with a team of sophomore Ryan Adams, senior Sherman Kortze, junior Noah LeBay and senior Benny Schwarz.

CVCA’s girls clocked a 9:23.78 to win the 3,200 relay. Senior Alex Blair, sophomore Natalie Pasicznyk, senior Mallory Myers, and sophomore Sammy Bockoven comprised the unit.

St. Vincent-St. Mary placed second to CVCA in each event to advance.

Garrettsville sophomore Edie Svonavec won the girls shot put with a result of 41-7.

Fairless senior Rebecca Fortner and Orrville senior Rylee Scott tied for second in the girls high jump to advance.

Individual boys who placed second to advance were St. V-M junior Travonte Junius (boys long jump) and CVCA junior Jake Sprague (boys pole vault).


North Canton Hoover 8, Gahanna Lincoln 5

The Vikings (31-0) topped the Lions (25-6) in a Division I regional semifinal at Ohio State University.

Junior Tara Thacker hit two singles, batted in three runs and scored three runs. She also earned the win pitching and is 19-0.

Both teams had seven hits. Hoover made three errors; Lincoln made four errors.

Junior Kelly Dillow and sophomore Kathleen Shier each hit a two-run single for Hoover. Senior Caly Russo hit a single, a sacrifice fly for an RBI and also scored a run.

Vikings senior Ally Farrah scored twice. She singled and got hit by a pitch. Junior Jenna Lilley walked three times.

Brittany Oldaker hit two home runs for the Lions.

Hoover plays Grove City in a regional final at 3 Saturday at OSU.
