Tallmadge, bowling

Griffith, a senior, rolled a 680 series at the Ravenna Ravens Tournament at Spins Bowl in Kent to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team. The Blue Devils finished second in the team standings. Griffith also rolled a 461 two-game series to lead Tallmadge to a victory over rival Kent Roosevelt in a Suburban League matchup.


Archbishop Hoban, football

Pete, a senior, helped Hoban win the Division II state championship game 42-14 over Cincinnati Winton Woods at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. He blocked a punt that resulted in a touchdown return by senior Donny Swain and also had three solo tackles, four assisted tackles, one sack and three tackles for loss. The Knights won their third state title in a row with a 14-1 record.


Kenmore-Garfield, basketball

Richardson, a senior, scored 39 points in a 66-45 win over visiting Our Lady of the Elms and scored 21 points in a 63-25 victory over visiting Firestone. She made five 3-pointers and also had eight rebounds against the Elms, and made two 3-pointers and had 10 steals and four rebounds versus Firestone.


Buchtel, basketball

Toney, a senior, scored a career-high 39 points in a 97-89 double-overtime victory over Barberton in the Joe Siegferth Basketball Classic at Firestone. He made four 3-pointers and also had four rebounds and three steals. He scored in each quarter and overtime, including 10 points in the fourth and five points in each overtime.


Green, basketball

Trainer, a senior, helped the Bulldogs open their season with wins over Kenmore-Garfield (77-27), Highland (52-29), North Canton Hoover (42-34) and Northwest (46-33). She scored 21 points in the win over the Golden Rams at the Canton South Turkey Tip-Off, nine points in the victory over the visiting Hornets, 14 points in the triumph over the host Vikings and 11 points in the win over the visiting Indians.
