Gresser, a junior, was on the 200-yard medley relay that won in a Division I district record time (1:44.84), placed first in the 200 individual medley (2:02.26), won the 100 breaststroke in a district record time (1:02.21) and was on the second-place 400 freestyle relay (3:33.01) at Cleveland State University’s Busbey Natatorium. She enters the state meet at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton with the No. 1 time in the 200 individual medley, the second-best time in the 100 breaststroke and part of the second-best time in the 200 medley relay.

HOLLY GROFF

Nordonia, basketball

Groff, a senior, led Nordonia to a 54-51 win at home over Shaker Heights in a Division I sectional final and a 41-40 victory over Twinsburg in a district semifinal at Euclid. She made five 3-pointers in each game, scoring 23 points against Shaker Heights and 20 points against Twinsburg.

Green, swimming

Poletta, a senior, won the Division I district title in the 50-yard freestyle by touching the wall first in 20.60 seconds at Cleveland State University’s Busbey Natatorium. He enters the state meet at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton with the third-best time in the 50-yard freestyle.

Cuyahoga Falls, wrestling

Reeves, a freshman, advanced to the Division I district tournament at Perrysburg by pinning an opponent from Medina in 1:22 in the final match at 106 pounds in the sectional tournament at Wadsworth.

KEVIN SIMMONS

Brunswick, basketball

Simmons, a senior, helped Brunswick to a 72-63 win at home over Shaker Heights by totaling 30 points, seven rebounds and four assists. He also made a game-winning layup with 0.6 seconds to go in the fourth quarter of a 37-35 win over host Strongsville, and finished that game with 14 points. Brunswick (18-4, 12-2) won the Greater Cleveland Conference title and is the No. 1 seed in the Copley Division I district.
