Bussey, a sophomore, will compete in four events at the Division I state meet this weekend in Columbus after leading the Tigers to a regional girls team title at Austintown Fitch. She contributed to Twinsburg’s winning 800-meter relay (1:42.59) and second-place 400 relay (48.93) at the regional meet. She also finished second in the 100 meters (12.43) and fourth in the 200 (25.57).

ANIYA LOWERY

Massillon Washington, track & field

Lowery, a junior, will compete in four events at the Division I state meet after a standout performance in the regional meet at Austintown Fitch. She won the 300-meter hurdles in 44.20 seconds, contributed to the winning 400 relay (48.92) and second-place 800 relay (1:42.94) and was second in the 200 meters (25.38).

ALLIE STAATS

Revere, softball

Staats, a junior shortstop, helped Revere (17-8) win a Division II district championship, and went 8-for-12 (.667 batting average) with a .733 on-base percentage and a 1.167 slugging percentage in the postseason. She hit one home run, scored seven runs and had five RBI as Revere earned wins over Cleveland Heights Beaumont School, Woodridge and Crestwood before losing to Mentor Lake Catholic in a regional semifinal.

PIERLUS STEWART

GlenOak, track & field

Stewart, a senior, qualified in four events for this weekend’s Division I state meet in Columbus after leading the Golden Eagles to a regional boys team title at Austintown Fitch. He won the 400 in 48.73 seconds, and contributed to the second-place 800 (1:29.09) and 1,600 (3:20.25) relays and the third-place 3,200 relay (7:57.26).

DESHAWN WHITE

Canton McKinley, track & field

White, a senior, will compete in four events at the Division I state meet after a standout performance in the regional meet at Austintown Fitch. He won the long jump (23-˝), tied for third in the high jump (6-4), and helped the Bulldogs place first in the 800 (1:28.13) and 1,600 (3:19.62) relays.
