North Canton Hoover, gymnastics

Berrey, a junior, won a Division I all-around district title at West Geauga with a career-high point total of 37.475 to advance to the state tournament this weekend at Hilliard Bradley High School. Berrey took the top spot as district champion on the beam with a 9.5 and was second on the vault with a 9.675. She became the first Hoover gymnast to advance to state on all four apparatuses and the all-around.

JAY JOHNSON

Hudson, swimming

Johnson, a junior, won a Division I state title in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 44.69 seconds at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton. He also placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:37.52), and contributed on two Explorers relays — the 400 freestyle (third, 3:06.20) and the 200 freestyle (sixth, 1:25.20).

FELICIA PASADYN

Brunswick, swimming

Pasadyn, a junior, won a Division I state title in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.28 seconds at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton. She also placed third in the 200 individual medley (2:00.78), and competed on the Blue Devils’ state-qualifying 400 freestyle relay.

HAYLEY ROBERTS

Stow, bowling

Roberts, a junior, finished first overall with a 598 series in the Division I district tournament at Wedgewood Lanes in Youngstown. She rolled games of 235-211-152 and will compete in the state tournament next weekend at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowling Lanes.

COOPER WROBEL

Wadsworth, bowling

Wrobel, a junior, finished first overall with a 688 series in the Division I district tournament at Wedgewood Lanes in Youngstown. He rolled games of 240-221-227 and will compete in the state tournament next weekend at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowling Lanes.
