The Crusaders advance to play Coldwater (14-0) at 10 a.m. Friday in the Division V state championship game.

Boys basketball

Wadsworth 55, Firestone 49

Sophomore Tony Hewitt scored 19 points for the visiting Grizzlies (1-0) in a season-opening win over the Falcons.

The Falcons (0-1) led 31-26 after the third quarter, but Hewitt scored 13 of his 19 points, including three 3-pointers, in the fourth quarter to rally the Grizzlies to victory.

Norton 66,?Northwest 60

Robby Robinson scored 15 points, Caleb Pratt and Reed Becker each scored 11 as the visiting Panthers (1-0) beat the Indians (0-1) in a nonleague matchup.

Scott Wormald led the Indians with 19 points.

Girls basketball

Carly Koncz and Ashley Richardson each scored 22 points for the host Chipps (2-0) in a win over the Irish (0-2).

For the Red Riders to improve to 3-0, they waited until the final two minutes to take their first lead of the game. Trinity Hall scored the go-ahead jumper and finished with a game-high 20 points for Orrville. Jenna Kelley led Barberton with 12 points.

CVCA 59, Woodridge 50

Rachel Radcliff, Anna Mitchell and Jada Wright scored 54 of the Royals’ 59 points, to lead the hosts over Woodridge. Radcliff led all scorers with 21 points, while Mitchell and Wright added 17 and 16 points, respectively.
