Billy Goat Challenge

Noah Perrin’s second-place finish led Woodridge to the team title of the Billy Goat Challenge at McDonald. Defending Division III state champion Maplewood was second and CVCA third.

Micah Blair, Ryan Palm, Yousef Elkurd and Max Starvaggi rounded out the scoring five for the Bulldogs boys.

In the girls race, Woodridge held on for a three-point win over second-place CVCA. Clare Willett placed first in the event, while Nicole Fleming, Natalie Fleming and Molly Howard finished 5-6-7 for Woodridge.

Seneca East Invitational

The Medina girls team won the Tiger Invitational behind Tarynn Cullings’ third-place finish in 20:00.81.

Boys soccer

Woodridge 4, Stow 3

Devin O’Laughlin capped a comeback at Stow, scoring the game-winner with three minutes remaining. Stow led 3-2 with seven minutes to go before Woodridge’s (2-0) Alex Powell scored to tie the game. Aidan Banner scored all three goals for Stow (0-2).

Firestone 5, Louisville 0

Jacob Weber’s five saves preserved a shutout win for the Falcons (2-1).

Girls soccer

Kent Roosevelt 4, Nordonia 3

Kayla Fischer scored her fourth goal of the game with 2:35 left, propelling the Rough Riders to their first win of the season. The junior scored once in the first half, then had three second-half goals as Kent improved to 1-2.

Wadsworth 2, Green 1

Second-half goals by Taylor Leatherman and Hailey Barfuss led the Grizzlies to a nonleague road victory.

Ellet 1, Alliance 0

Sophie Struhsaker scored the game’s only goal and Madison Wallace recorded the shutout in goal for Ellet.

Jackson 3, North Royalton 2

Goalie Chloe Falconer stopped a late North Royalton penalty kick to hold off the Bears. Brooke Parsons scored twice for Jackson and assisted on Lauren Hattery’s goal.

Volleyball

Wadsworth 3, Copley 0

Wadsworth opened its season with a three-set win over the Indians. Kacie Evans, an honorable mention All-Ohioan a year ago, had 10 kills and seven digs to lead the Grizzlies.

Revere 3, Hathaway Brown 2

The Minutemen (2-1) were led to a road win by Viktoria Farian, who collected 23 kills and 12 service points.
