As the United States and Germany prepare to face off in the final match of group play, the United States has complete control over its hopes of reaching the round of 16. Itís simply really: win or draw and youíre through to the next round. The United States will win the group with a victory over Germany. The United States has won its group only once since 1930, in 2010. A draw would place the United States second as Germany would win the group.

The simplicity ends when you consider the possibility of the Untied States advancing if they lose. SBNationís Center Line soccer blog created an infographic breaking down all of the possibilities from todayís final Group G matches.

The Washington Post reports that torrential downpours have hit the setting for todayís United States match, Recife, Brazil. These downpours will slow down the pitch and increase the odds for low-scoring, or even a draw, between the United States and Germany.
