Kent State outscored Western Michigan 16-4 over the final 4:14 to pull a come-from-behind win on the road Wednesday night.
Trailing 57-51 with just over four minutes to play, the Golden Flashes quickly went on a run led by guard Itziar Llobet, who scored five points over the next minute. Llobet totaled 14 points and seven rebounds.
Now within one, guard Tamzin Barroilhet drained two 3-pointers to put the game out of reach. Barroilhet led all scorers with 22 points on 9-12 shooting and three assists.
Diamon Beckford scored 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Kent State dominated the boards, as they outrebounded the Broncos 32-20. Western Michigan was able to stay in the game due to the Golden Flashes’ 21 turnovers.
Aurielle Anderson led WMU with 13 points, while Maria Iaquaniello finished the night with 10.
