Kent State senior catcher David Lyon was named one of 10 finalists for the 2012 Lowe’s Senior CLASS (Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School) Award.
Fan voting begins immediately to determine the winner, and fans are encouraged to vote on the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award website through June 11.
Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I men’s head coaches’ votes to determine the winner.

Despite rapping out 19 hits, Kent State lost 6-4 at Penn State on Wednesday night.
Shortstop Jimmy Rider was 5-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, second baseman Derek Toadvine was 4-for-5 with a run scored, and center fielder and leadoff batter Evan Campbell and designated hitter Nick Hamilton had three hits each.

Kent State split a doubleheader with Penn State on Wednesday at the Diamond at Dix, smacking 14 hits in the opener and needing just one out in the bottom of the fifth, before the run rule took effect in an 11-3 win.
Alex Marcantonio and Mary Holt drove in two runs each.
Freshman Emma Johnson went all five innings to earn her 14th win of the year, giving up three runs, 10 hits, walked one and struck out eight.
Kent State had just two hits in a 9-0 shutout in the second game, which was also five innings.
