Kent State (2-17, 0-6) was not able to shut down a MAC East-leading Miami (13-6, 5-1) and lost 76-48.

Miami shot 55.8 percent, including hitting 10-for-20 from 3-point range, while Kent State hit just two 3-pointers in 21 attempts.

Tamzin Barroilhet finished the game with nine points, six rebounds (all offensive) and three assists. Jamie Hutcheson also had nine points and made both of the teamís three-pointers.

Kent State travels to Central Michigan (12-7, 6-0) on Thursday night.

Wrestling

Senior Dustin Kilgore broke a Kent State record with his 47th career pin in the Golden Flashesí 27-8 loss to Central Michigan Sunday at McGuirk Arena.

Kilgore improved to 30-0 on the year with his Division I leading 15th pin of the year. Kilgore ran his winning streak to 49 matches and his dual meet win streak to 59.

The Golden Flashes got a victory at 174 as Copley redshirt freshman Sam Wheeler knocked off No. 23 Craig Kelliher 5-2.

The Golden Flashes have MAC matches Friday at Eastern Michigan and Sunday at Buffalo.

Tennis

The University of Akron tennis team concluded its participation in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend with a 4-1 loss to 55th-ranked Tulane on Sunday afternoon at USCís Marks Stadium.

Angelina Jogasuria claimed the Zipsí lone point by way of a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 over Jenny Hois.

Track and field

Kent State took top honors in 17 events in the tri-meet with host Illinois State and SIU-Edwardsville at the Redbird Invitational Normal, Ill. The women captured nine events and the men eight events.

Junior Shanequa Williams took first place in both the 200-meter dash and 400-meter. Senior Melinda Sawnor captured the 800-meter run.

Keri Dantley won the triple jump and Domenica Rossi won the pole vault.

Matthias Tayala won the weight throw and senior Kenneth Agee helped the Golden Flashes take the top three spots in the high jump.

KSU competes at the Akron Invitational Friday and Saturday.
