•?Through two days and heading into the final round, the Kent State men’s team is in 27th place in a field of 30 at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta.

The Golden Flashes followed up their first-round score of 2-over 282 with a 13-over 293.

Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith and Nicholas Scott lead the Golden Flashes with two-day scores of 3-over 143.

Kevin Miller is at 6-over 146 and Kyle Kmiecik at 13-over 153.

•?Kent State University juniors Corey Conners and Kyle Kmiecik were named to the 2013 Men’s Golf Academic All-Mid-American Conference team. Conners, a mathematics major, holds a 3.47 GPA and posted the sixth-best single-season average in school history (72.1).

Kmiecik, a finance major, holds a 3.31 GPA and a 75.5 scoring average.


Baldwin Wallace University announced the hiring of Mark Johnston as defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator.

Johnston served as head strength and conditioning and defensive backs coach at Walsh University for 12 seasons and volunteered at KSU for the past four months as the quality control coach.
