Kent State’s 2012 football schedule was released Thursday.

Highlighting the 12-game slate are five home games at Dix Stadium, four of which are Mid-American Conference match ups - Ball State (Sept. 29), Western Michigan (Oct. 20), Akron (Nov. 3) and Ohio (Nov. 23).

In addition, the Golden Flashes will also host Towson in the season opener Aug. 30.

Other non-conference opponents for Kent State this fall include trips to Kentucky (Sept. 8), Army (Sept. 13) and Rutgers (Oct. 27).

The MAC road slate for the Flashes begins with a mid-week trip to Buffalo on either Sept. 19-20 for a game that will be aired live on ESPNU. (An official date and time for the game will be selected by the network.)

Kent State also travels to Eastern Michigan (Oct. 6), Miami (Nov. 10) and Bowling Green (Nov. 17).

The 2012 MAC Championship game is scheduled for Nov. 30 at Ford Field in Detroit.

“I like the schedule because there’s some space between some games (Kentucky, Buffalo and Ball State) early that give us more preparation time,” second-year coach Darrell Hazell said. “Especially early in the season, that extra preparation time really helps.”
