Taylor Pendrith represented the Kent State University men’s golf team well, finishing second at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational at the Ohio State University Golf Club.

Pendrith, playing through an elbow injury, shot a 3-under in the final round to finish at 3-under 208 over all three days, finishing just one stroke back of California medalist Brandon Hagy.

The Golden Flashes gained five strokes on Purdue in the final round to tie them for fourth place with a 25-over 877.

California won the tournament with a 10-under 842. Oklahoma took second at 9-over 861 and Oklahoma State finished third with an 11-over 863.

Kent State senior Nick Scott tied for 21st individually with an 8-over 221.

Senior Kyle Kmiecik tied for 23rd at 9-over 222. Senior Corey Conners tied for 41st with a 17-over 230 and Kody Fry rounded out the scoring with a 20-over 233 that earned him a tie for 47th place.

The Golden Flashes’ next match will be at the Ridges in Johnson City, Tenn., for the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Oct. 11.
