Leon McFadden

Cornerback, San Diego State

5-foot-10, 193 pounds

Third round, No. 68 overall

The Browns passed over a cornerback with the No. 6 overall pick (Dee Milliner, Alabama) but addressed the defensive backfield in the third round with McFadden. Recruited to San Diego State as a wide receiver, McFadden made the switch to cornerback as a freshman and later led the Mountain West Conference in passes defended in back-to-back seasons. Last season, he intercepted three passes and returned two of them for touchdowns. Pro Football Weekly and Mike Mayock of NFL Network each called McFadden “quick-footed” but on the smaller side. Pro Football Weekly has him as a “small-framed, competitive, instinctive nickel cornerback.” He ran a 4.54 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. McFadden also has experience returning punts.
