The Milwaukee Brewers promoted Jeff Bianchi from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday to fortify their bench after injuries to outfielder Carlos Gomez and shortstop Jean Segura. Bianchi began the season in Milwaukee before being sent down last month. He was hitting .276 with three homers and 14 RBI in the minors. Gomez left Saturday’s 7-4 win over Colorado in the seventh with a neck strain after colliding with Ryan Braun in the outfield. Segura had left an inning earlier with leg cramps. Gomez said he had a headache and sore neck, but passed a concussion test.

BACK ON DL — The Oakland Athletics returned Josh Reddick to the 15-day disabled list after the outfielder aggravated a previous knee injury. Reddick left Saturday’s 7-6 victory against Miami in the fourth inning with a strained right knee. He had an MRI on Sunday morning, but the A’s had not seen the results when they decided to put him on the DL.

RETURN — Red Sox hitting coach Greg Colbrunn plans to rejoin the Boston staff today when the team returns home to play the Chicago Cubs at Fenway Park. The 44-year-old Colbrunn was hospitalized this month because of bleeding between the brain and the thin tissues that cover it. He was admitted June 4 to the Cleveland Clinic after experiencing dizziness before a game against the Indians.

AROUND THE BASES — The Athletics-Marlins game was halted for 10 minutes while medical personnel treated two fans hit in the face by the same foul ball.… The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed infielder Chris Owings on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder strain and selected the contract of infielder Nick Ahmed from Triple-A Reno.
