Saturday’s American League results

Blue Jays 3, Yankees 2 — Adeiny Hechavarria doubled home the tiebreaking run in the sixth inning for the host Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto’s Rajai Davis homered and had three hits as the Blue Jays increased the pressure on the Yankees. Shawn Hill (1-0) pitched three innings of scoreless relief for the win, and Casey Janssen closed it out for his 21st save in 24 chances.

Athletics 7, Mariners 4, 10 innings — Josh Donaldson hit a tying two-run home run in the ninth inning and Brandon Moss hit a game-ending three-run homer in the 10th in the host Oakland Athletics’ stunning win. Coco Crisp singled off Oliver Perez (1-3) leading off the final inning for his fourth hit.

Rays 10, White Sox 4 — Matt Moore pitched one-hit ball into the sixth, and Matt Joyce homered twice for the visiting Rays. Moore (11-11) went 5? innings with two walks and four strikeouts. Jeff Keppinger and Chris Gimenez also homered for the Rays. With the White Sox trailing 10-0 in the eighth, pinch-hitter Orlando Hudson hit a grand slam off reliever Chris Archer.

Tigers 6, Twins 4 — Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run homer to move into at least a tie for the lead in all three triple-crown categories, and Justin Verlander struck out eight in seven innings to help the host Detroit Tigers stay in front in the AL Central. Cabrera’s blast in the eighth inning off of Casey Fien was his 43rd home run for the year.

Orioles 4, Red Sox 3 — Chris Davis hit his 30th home run, rookie Manny Machado lined a go-ahead shot in the seventh inning and the host Orioles climbed into a tie atop the AL East. Baltimore went ahead 3-0 in the fourth, then let Boston pull even before Machado homered a liner into the left-field seats off Felix Doubront (11-10).

Saturday’s National League results

Brewers 9, Astros 5 — Marco Estrada struck out 11 in eight shutout innings and Corey Hart homered twice for host Milwaukee. Hart drove in four runs to back Estrada (5-7). The right-hander allowed only four singles and a walk. Houston hit three home runs in the ninth.

Braves 2, Mets 0 — Mike Minor pitched 6? sharp innings to win his fifth straight decision, Martin Prado and Jason Heyward each had an RBI and the host Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets. Chipper Jones was hitless in four at-bats. Craig Kimbrel earned his 41st save.

Pirates 2, Reds 1 — Andrew McCutchen hit a solo home run off Jonathan Broxton with one out in the ninth inning for the host Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates won with eight hits. McCutchen’s 31st homer helped Pittsburgh keep a record 20th consecutive losing season at bay.

Phillies 9, Marlins 5 — Roy Halladay survived a shaky opening inning, and Jimmy Rollins had three hits and scored three times for the visiting Phillies. Chase Utley drove in three runs and Carlos Ruiz added a two-run double. Halladay (11-8) allowed six hits and four runs, striking out seven and walking three in five innings.

Diamondbacks 8, Cubs 2 — Trevor Cahill threw a four-hitter in his third career complete game, and Justin Upton drove in three runs for the host Diamondbacks. Cahill (13-12) struck out a season-high nine and walked three. He was two outs shy of his third career shutout when Alfonso Soriano hit his 32nd home run of the season in the ninth.

Nationals 6, Cardinals 4, 10 innings — Michael Morse hit a grand slam, and Washington cut its magic number for winning the NL East to one, beating host St. Louis on Kurt Suzuki’s two-run double in the 10th inning.
