Washington Redskins cornerback Chris Culliver injured his right knee in practice and will undergo an MRI.

Culliver left the locker room on crutches and with a full brace on his right leg Thursday. Coach Jay Gruden says Culliver “tweaked” his knee after jumping for a ball and landing on it.

Culliver missed three games earlier this season after injuring his left knee in practice. He missed the entire 2013 season in San Francisco after tearing his left ACL in training camp.

Tackle Trent Williams (knee) was limited in practice after sitting out Wednesday. Gruden is “optimistic” Williams will be available Sunday.

McDonald signed

The New England Patriots signed defensive back Dewey McDonald to the 53-man roster Thursday and placed wide receiver Aaron Dobson on injured reserve.

The 25-year-old McDonald was claimed off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 28 and played in two games before being released Nov. 12. He was signed to the practice squad Nov. 14 and released Nov. 18.

Dobson had 13 catches for 141 yards in eight games this season.

Falcons waive Bartu

With Matt Bryant slowed by a right quadriceps injury, the Atlanta Falcons signed kicker Shayne Graham.

To make room, the Falcons waived former starting linebacker Joplo Bartu on Thursday.

Bryant, 40, was limited in practice. He already has missed four attempts this season, including a 46-yarder in last Sunday’s 24-21 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He had only three misses each of the last two seasons.

Graham, 37, has played with nine teams, connecting on 266 of 311 field goal attempts in his career. In his most recent stop, he made 19 of 22 field goals for the New Orleans Saints last season.

Bartu was an undrafted player who started 27 games over his first two seasons in Atlanta.

Woodley put on IR

The Arizona Cardinals placed outside linebacker Lamarr Woodley on season-ending injured reserve with a chest injury and signed defensive tackle Red Bryant.

Woodley appeared in nine games, six as a starter before being hurt in the Cardinals’ Nov. 15 game at Seattle. The NFL veteran had 14 tackles, four solo, and one sack.

Bryant started all 16 games with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, when he had 22 tackles, one forced fumble and two tackles for loss.

Bryant, in his eighth NFL season, spent his first six with the Seattle Seahawks, who drafted him in the fourth round out of Texas in 2008.
