The Kent State women’s golf team won its 15th consecutive Mid-American Conference Championship on Sunday as they shot a 909 for the weekend, 28 shots better than second-place Eastern Michigan at the Longaberger Country Club in Nashport, Ohio.

Jennifer Ha not only won individual medalist honors by shooting a tournament-low 222 (76-72-74), but she also was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team, the All-MAC First Team, and the Golfer of the Year. Josee Doyon, who shot a 227 (77-74-76) for the weekend, was also named to the All-Tournament and All-Conference teams.

The University of Akron finished in seventh place as both Laura Murray (238) and Hanna Ek (242) finished in the top-25.

Baseball

Kent State (23-20, 12-6 MAC) completed a sweep of Bowling Green with a 10-7 win despite a 2˝-hour rain delay. Casey Wilson earned his fifth win, and Brian Clark picked up his sixth save.

Softball

Akron won its third straight game as Shawna Hochstetler and Rachael Ratcliffe led the Zips (21-24, 7-11 MAC) to a 4-2 victory over Western Michigan. Both Hochstetler and Ratcliffe homered.

Football

Firestone High School graduate Trevor Kennedy signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League on Friday. Kennedy, who attended Mercyhurst, set single-season records for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns in 2011.
