The Kent State field hockey team showed off its defense in a shutout win over James Madison on Sunday, but on Tuesday it was the offense that led the Golden Flashes to a 4-2 win over Vermont at Murphy-Mellis Field in Kent.

Sophomores Julia Hofmann, Hannah Faulkner and Shannon Martin and junior Rebecca Lee each scored a goal as the Flashes wrapped up a three-game homestand with a 2-1 record.

Hofmann scored in the 13th minute to tie the score at 1-1 and Faulkner added a goal a minute later to give the Flashes a 2-1 lead at halftime.

Lee scored in the second half and Martin added an insurance goal in the 67th minute to seal the win.

Sophomores Sabrina Binder, Abbie Carrico and Lee each had an assist for the Flashes.

The Flashes visit Boston University at 5 p.m. on Saturday and Providence at noon on Monday.
