There will be plenty of opportunity to watch the Kent State University men’s basketball play at the M.A.C. Center this season.

The 2012-13 basketball schedule was released Wednesday and the Golden Flashes will play a school-record 17 home games.

The season opens with a five-game homestand beginning Nov. 9 with Drexel, which won the Colonial Athletic Association with a 29-7 record last year.

On Nov. 13, the Golden Flashes are part of ESPN’s fifth annual College Hoops Tip-off Marathon. The game is at noon against Temple, the defending Atlantic-10 champion.

The remaining three games of the homestand are Nov. 16 against Chicago State, Nov. 18 against defending Horizon League champion Valparaiso, and Nov. 20 against Bethune-Cookman.

“Those games are just part of our nonconference schedule that features nine games against winning teams, including seven that won at least 20 games last year,” KSU coach Rob Senderoff said in a news release.

The MAC home games begin Jan. 9 with Toledo. Akron visits Jan. 19.
