The Kent State men’s golf team fell two spots on the leaderboard Monday and just missed qualifying for the NCAA Division I quarterfinals at the national championships in Stillwater, Okla.

After starting the day at the eighth-place cut-line needed to advance, the Golden Flashes shot a 299, finishing 2 strokes behind final qualifier and second-seeded Texas A&M.

Chase Johnson led the way for Kent State, firing a four-round total of 288. Ian Holt and Bjarki Petursson each finished with a 295.

Baseball

After capturing the MAC title, Kent State earned a No. 3 seed in the Lubbock Regional and will face off against No. 2 seed Louisville at 7 p.m. Friday.

Host Texas Tech is the top seed and the No. 9 seed nationally, and are paired with No. 4 seed New Mexico State.
