Kent State overcame a 10-stroke deficit to third-round leader Ball State to win its 25th Mid-American Championship title on Sunday at the Sycamore Hills Golf Course in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Golden Flashes shot an 8-over 309 Sunday to overtake Ball State and win by 3 strokes. Ian Holt (Stow) jumped four spots to claim the individual MAC Championship with a 7-under 295. KSU’s Bjarki Petursson finished second at 8-over par.

Senior George Baylis led the University of Akron with his fifth-place finish in his final MAC Championship event. He fired a final round 76 to bring his tournament total to 11-over 299.

Kent State’s 17 hits allowed the visiting Flashes to beat Toledo 13-3.
