Kent State catcher David Lyon and pitcher Ryan Bores were named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Lyon, a senior, had five hits in 10 at-bats, including a double and home run, with three RBI and three runs scored to help the KSU sweep their opening MAC series with Northern Illinois of the West Conference.

Bores struck out a career- high nine batters in eight innings and was the winner in KSU’s victory on Saturday. He did not issue a walk.

The Golden Flashes host Toledo at 3 p.m. today.

Swimming

•?Walsh Jesuit graduate Brittany Geyer won the 200-yard breaststroke and became the second NCAA Division III champion in the history of Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.

Geyer, a freshman, earned five All-America honors for the Ducks in the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 100 breast stroke and 200 individual medley in addition to the 200 breast stroke.

•?Firestone graduate Bethany Haver finished her record-?breaking diving career at Washington and Jefferson last week with an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Division III championships in the 3-meter event.

Haver earned NCAA All-America honors for the fourth time in her career.
