Former Kent State wrestling coach Ron Gray will be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame on June 1 in Stillwater, Okla. Gray, who coached the Golden Flashes for 25 seasons, is one of four members who will be inducted. He led the Golden Flashes to nine Mid-American Conference titles from 1977-1990. Gray also was a two-time NCAA champion and three-time NCAA finalist when he wrestled at Iowa State. In 1959, he won the NCAA Championships’ Outstanding Wrestler Award.

Women’s golf

The Kent State University women’s golf team, dressed in pink gear for breast cancer awareness month, shot a 10-over 298 in the second round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Club. That leaves the Golden Flashes in 10th place and 25 strokes behind the leader, fourth-ranked Florida.

Sophomore Jennifer Ha moved up 25 spots with a 1-under 71. Ha’s two-day score of 147 leaves her 9 strokes behind the leader and in 24th place. It was her first time breaking par this season.

Freshman Josee Doyon and junior Erin Hawe are tied for 28th place with a two-day score of 148.

More golf

The PGA Tour has released the 2013 FedExCup Season schedule. The Bridgestone Invitational, held annually at Akron’s Firestone Country Club South Course, will take place from Aug. 1-4.

The U.S. Open will be held at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa., and will take place from June 13-16.

The Masters Tournament, held annually at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., will take place Apr. 11-14.

The British Open will be held at Muirfield in East Lothian, Scotland from July 18-21.
