Junior Jaclyn Dutton scored two goals and the Kent State women’s soccer team defeated Ball State 2-0 on Friday at Zoeller Field in Kent.

Dutton scored in the 19th minute on a penalty kick and again in the 29th minute off an assist from sophomore Stephanie Haugh. Dutton now leads the Mid-American Conference with 10 goals this season.

Freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Senn had four saves in her third shutout of the season.

The Golden Flashes (6-2-2, 1-1-1) host Miami at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Frances Boukidis scored in the 14th minute to lead Northern Illinois to a 1-0 win over the University of Akron women’s soccer team on Friday at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Zips (4-6-0, 0-3-0 MAC) had a 9-4 advantage in shots but only had two shots on goal, both in the second half.

The Zips host Toledo at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Golf

Laura Murray shot a 5-over-par 77 and is tied for 28th place and the University of Akron women’s golf team finished the first day of the Nittany Lion Women’s Invitational at Penn State in 13th place.

The Zips shot a 28-over-par 316 and are 24 strokes behind current leader Penn State.

Frida Fougberg shot a 6-over-par 78 and is tied for 43rd and Sara Chaves is tied for 59th. Hanna Ek is tied for 67th, Tyler Etcheberry is tied for 77th and Sierra Everson is tied for 87th.

The second round begins today with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Volleyball

Morgan Kuhn had 25 assists and Jill Paluch had 15 digs for the University of Akron volleyball team in a 3-0 loss to Bowling Green on Friday at Rhodes Arena.

The Falcons defeated the Zips 26-24, 25-20, 25-18 to remain perfect in MAC play this season.

Tina Dimitrijevs had 14 kills and Chelsea Harvey had 10 digs for the Zips (8-7, 1-2).
