The University of Akron menís basketball team will include two walk-on players next season, Cleveland John Hay senior Cristen Wilson and Lakewood St. Edward senior Malcolm Walters.

Wilson is 6-foot-7 forward and averaged about 20 points per game as a senior for the Hornets.

Walters is 6-foot-2 guard and helped St. Edward win the Division I state championship as a senior.

Walters averaged around nine points and five assists per game for the Eagles.

University of Akron sophomore guard Carmelo Betancourt and sophomore wing Reggie McAdams were named Academic All-Mid-American Conference Honorable Mention.

Betancourt carries a 3.209 GPA and made 17 starts for the Zips this season.

McAdams has a 3.369 GPA and finished second in the MAC in 3-point percentage (.425) in 29 games, including 14 starts.

Baseball

The Tuesday afternoon game between the University of Akron and host Youngstown State was canceled due to rain.

The game will not be rescheduled.

The Zips travel to Dayton to play Wright State tonight at 6:30 p.m.

The Golden Flashes return home tonight to play Youngstown State at 6 p.m.

Softball

The University of Akronís Tuesday doubleheader against Cleveland State at Lee Jackson Field in Akron was canceled due to rain.

No makeup date has been announced.

The Zips will host Northern Illinois in a doubleheader Friday, and will host Western Michigan at 2 p.m. Saturday and at 1 p.m. Sunday to close out the regular season.

The Zips are competing for a berth in the MAC Tournament.
