Reinaldo Brenes, a senior striker for the University of Akron menís soccer team, has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America team for the second consecutive season by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Brenes, who was named to the first team last season, was named to the third team for the 2013 season after scoring a team-high eight goals, including five game-winners.
Brenes scored the game-winning goal last Thursday to lead the Zips (17-4-1) to a 3-2 win over Indiana in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Brenes, an All Mid-American Conference first-team honoree, carries a 3.74 GPA and is an international business major.
