In the final meet of its regular-season schedule, the University of Akron swimming and diving team downed Mid-American Conference host Miami 158-142 Saturday. The Zips had nine first-place swimmers and their divers placed in two of the three top spots in each dive.
KSU womenís basketball
Kent State could not hold a halftime lead Saturday, dropping a 65-53 MAC game to visiting Western Michigan (13-8, 5-4). Jordan Korinek (St. Vincent-St. Mary) scored a team-high 18 points for the Golden Flashes (4-15, 1-8).
Mount Union basketball
Jake Jacubecís 23 points led five Mount Union players in double figures as the Purple Raiders posted a 97-96 Ohio Athletic Conference home win over Capital Saturday afternoon. Miles Griffin (Jackson) and Kyle Scelza scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, for Mount Union (14-5, 10-2), while Jarrett Ruffin (Nordonia) scored 14.
Malone center Brian Stone scored 21 of his career-high 29 points in the first half, but visiting Findlay connected on 16-of-30 3-pointers en route to an 83-67 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win.
