The University of Akron volleyball team lost 25-17, 25-17, 25-22 to Bradley on the final day of the Pepsi Panther Invitational in Milwaukee on Saturday.

All-tournament team member Amanda Bedell (Hudson) led the Zips (1-2) with 10 kills, while Brenna Mack had a match-high 16 digs against the Braves (2-1).

Setter Karley Kusan led UA with 26 assists, while Jessica Kloehn had five block assists and two kills.

Kent State volleyball

At the Holiday Inn Orlando East/University of Central Florida Invitational, Kent State beat Stony Brook in four sets. KSU took the first set 25-17, then dropped a 25-15 decision to the Seawolves (1-2).

KSU posted wins in the final two sets, 25-22 and 25-20, to improve to 2-1 overall.

Juniors Kelsey Bittinger (Strongsville) and Heather Younkin each recorded double-doubles. Bittinger led all players with 14 kills and 16 digs. Younkin had 13 kills and a career-high 11 digs.

Kent State field hockey

For the first time since 1995, the Kent State field hockey team is 2-0. The Flashes reached that mark with a 4-1 victory over visiting Villanova Saturday at Murphy-Mellis Field.

Alison Harmatz and Kysti Lober each scored twice, as the Golden Flashes outshot Villanova (0-1) 22-6.

Walsh basketball
