Though each day’s scores were consistent, the University of Akron women’s golf team finished last out of 18 teams at the Golfweek Conference Challenge at Red Sky Golf Club in Edwards, Colo.

After shooting a 311 on Monday and a 313 on Tuesday, the Zips came back to shoot another 311 on the final day of competition Wednesday afternoon.

The three-day score of 935 placed them 7 strokes behind the next-best finisher at the College of Charleston. The 935 puts the Zips at 71 over par for the tournament.

The University of Denver captured the title with an 8-over-par 872.

Jacinta Pikunas was the leader for UA, shooting a 220 total over the three rounds, good for 4 over par.

Danielle Nicholson shot a 227 and Pader Her followed with a 240.

Allyson Wentworth fired the last counting score for the Zips with a 248.

The individual medalist was Haley Moore from the University of Arizona. The junior shot a 7-under 209.

The Zips get back on the course Oct. 6 at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in Lexington, Ky.
