Host Ball State defeated the University of Akron women’s basketball team 97-64 Wednesday for its fourth consecutive victory in the Mid-American Conference.

Shaunay Edmonds scored 13 points and Destiny Perkins contributed 11 points for the Zips (7-14, 1-9).

Led by Moriah Monaco’s 22 points, five players scored in double figures for the Cardinals (18-3, 7-3), who are averaging 81.5 points per game.

Kent State women

The Golden Flashes evened their overall record at 11-11 and improved to 4-6 in the MAC with an 81-57 win over visiting Bowling Green.

Kent State built a 40-18 halftime lead and kept the Falcons (10-11, 2-8) at bay in the second half.

Senior forward Jordan Korinek (St. Vincent-St. Mary) scored a season- and career-high 36 points in 36 minutes to lead the Flashes. Her previous best was 31 points against Southeastern Louisiana on Nov. 18.

Ali Poole added 14 points off the bench for Kent State.
