The University of Akron track and field program has garnered national attention this week, as both the menís and womenís teams were ranked in the nationís Top 20 by Track and Field News on Thursday.

The menís team moved up to No. 5 after last Fridayís win over Kent State, while the womenís team checked in at No. 18 after their win over Kent State on Friday.

The Zips return to action at the Penn State National on Jan. 29-30.

Golf

Jon Mills, a 2002 Kent State graduate and former PGA Tour professional, has been named associate head coach of the Kent State menís golf team.

Mills was a two-time All-American and a four-year All-MAC performer for the Golden Flashes. Mills played on the PGA Tour from 2006-2008 and was the leading money winner on the Canadian Tour in 2003. Mills was inducted into the Varsity K Hall of Fame in 2007.

Canton Charge

Michael Dunigan scored 20 points and John Holland and Quinn Cook each added 18 points for the Charge in a 106-101 win over the host Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
