The University of Akron softball team dropped two one-run games at Dayton on Wednesday afternoon, losing 1-0 in the opener before falling 3-2 in the second game.

In the first game, Manda Cash stymied the Zips (2-36-1) on just two hits and struck out five.

Kimberly Rodriguez had a double and Sabria Bruton had a single for Akron.

Kayla Kmett was solid in the circle, allowing just three hits and a walk and striking out three.

Dayton pushed across an unearned run in the third inning when Kayla Haberstich tripled home Hannah Heraty after she reached on an error by shortstop Caitlin Gambone.

UA took an early 2-0 lead in the second game when Rodriguez scored on a double steal and Jordan Crews was driven in by Laura Lakins.

However, the Flyers (25-20) answered with two runs in the third before walking off on an infield single.

The loss was the ninth in a row for the Zips, who will return home this weekend to face Mid-American Conference foe Miami.
