In its final meet of the regular season, the University of Akron women’s swimming and diving team finished second at the two-day Shamrock Invitational at Notre Dame on Saturday.

The Zips scored 842 points at the Rolfs Aquatic Center, trailing only the Fighting Irish’s winning total of 1,023.5 points. Ohio State, Wisconsin and Iowa rounded out the final three team spots.

Akron swimmers won two races and had five top-three finishes.

Paloma Marrero Munoz got the Zips their first individual event win in the 200 breaststroke. In the 200 butterfly, Paulina Nogaj won with a time of 1:58.18.

Indoor track

• College of Wooster men were second in the Fighting Scots Invitational. Wittenberg won both the men’s and women’s team titles.

• At the Spire Midwest Invitational, Kent State’s Sam Tollerud won the pole vault at a height of 13-¼ inches. Walsh’s Andra Lehotay, Jetaiya Smith, (GlenOak) Megan Soenlen (Canton Central Catholic) and Sarah Berger (Wadsworth) won the women’s Division II distance medley relay by 21 seconds in 11:37.53.
