The University of Akron women’s soccer team lost its final match of the season 2-1 to Buffalo in double overtime on Thursday at UB Stadium in Buffalo.

The Zips (6-12-1, 2-9-0 Mid-American Conference) led 1-0 at halftime, but the Bulls (13-2-3, 9-0-2) tied the score in the 53rd minute and scored the golden goal in the second overtime for the win.

Senior Lani Smith scored her sixth goal of the season on a cross from Sarah Sivic in the fourth minute for her 15th career goal to give the Zips an early 1-0 lead. Kassidy Kidd scored the equalizer in the 53rd minute, and Jackie Hall scored the game-winning goal on a header in the second overtime.

This was the final match for UA seniors Smith, Karina Atkinson, Sydney Blomquist, Brooke Carrel, Alex Frawley, Danielle Reymann and Alex Luevano-Harden.
