RubberDucks 5, Rumble Ponies 1

Willi Castro hit a two-run single and Mark Mathias added a two-run triple for the RubberDucks in a victory over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Tuesday in Binghamton, N.Y.

Castro singled to score Sicnarf Loopstok and Tyler Krieger to give the Ducks (3-3) a 2-0 lead. Mathias tripled in the next at-bat to score Castro and Andrew Calica to put the Ducks ahead 4-0.

The Ducks added a run in the eighth inning on Joe Sever’s RBI double.

Starting pitcher Shane Bieber allowed four hits in seven innings with eight strikeouts for his first win of the season. Jordan Milbrath allowed a run and struck out two in two innings of relief.

Mathias and Calica each had two hits, and Calica had a stolen base for the Ducks.

Ponies starting pitcher Joseph Shaw allowed four runs on five hits in six innings and took the loss. Tim Tebow went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

The Ducks finish their series against the Ponies on Wednesday and return to Akron for the home opener against the Trenton Thunder at 6:35 p.m. Friday.
