Apparently LeBron James knew ahead of time how Cavs fans would vote on Twitter on whether to reinstate his legendary chalk toss. He abandoned the practice from his Cavs days during his four-year stint with the Miami Heat.

During pre-game testing of the new scoreboard a message read: "Be part of the chalk toss. After player intros, get your confetti ready and toss it in the air when LeBron does it."

Packets of confetti awaited fans at their seats in Quicken Loans Arena, along with a T-shirt and poster, for the Cavs' season opener against the New York Knicks.

After shootaround Thursday morning, James was asked if he knew the result of the Twitter vote.

"Not yet. I'll get it when I get up from my nap today. Let the fans be heard," he said.
