A run in the seventh inning by the SeaWolves snapped a 1-1 tie Saturday night in Erie, Pa., and sent the RubberDucks to their fifth consecutive loss.

Kody Eaves greeted Ducks reliever Robbie Aviles with a double. With one out, Eaves went to third on a groundout and he then scored when Harold Castro’s infield single deflected off Aviles.

Aviles (6-4) took the loss in relief of Ducks starter Matt Esparza, who gave up four hits, two walks and struck out five in six innings. One of the hits he allowed was a solo home run to Mike Gerber, his 12th, that tied the score 1-1 in the fourth.

The Ducks (63-68) took a 1-0 lead in the third when Dorssys Paulino scored on a ground ball by Todd Hankins. Paulino reached base to lead off the inning by getting hit by a pitch from Spencer Turnbull, who started and pitched into the seventh inning for the SeaWolves (64-67).

Reliever Kurt Spomer got the win and Mark Ecker saved his second game. Neither SeaWolves reliever allowed a hit, but each walked one.
